ABSTRACT
Jedermann does not lead a life pleasing to God. He is stingy, unfaithful and unscrupulous with his fellow human beings. It is only when Death comes to him one day and wants to bring him to his Creator that the wealthy Jedermann is frightened. He asks Death to give him one hour to find someone who will stand up for him before God. But neither friends nor family are willing to do so. In the end, the only thing left for him to free himself from the clutches of the devil is faith.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Marcella von Jan has been a member of the ensemble at the Theater Altenburg Gera since 1982. As a puppeteer, she has performed in over 50 productions to date, including Hugo von Hofmannsthal's Jedermann. The cello played live contributes significantly to the mystical atmosphere of this production. The production condenses the material, which has twenty-seven characters in the original, into a dialogue between music and puppetry. Dubious characters and archaic sounds create a profound examination of human mortality.
